Following the announcement from the A72 motorway, back in April, Oppo has today announced its 5G model called the Oppo A72 5G. However, this is not only a 5G-in support of the A72 motorway. We are on the look out for the many, many differences between the 4G and 5G versions.
For starters, the A72 5G will be powered by the newly announced Dimensity 720 SoC, while the 4G model has a Snapdragon 665 chipset under the hood. Both of the smartphones pack a 6.5″ FullHD+ LCD, but with the A72 motorway 5G, it comes with a 90Hz panel, as opposed to the 5G version is a 60 hz panel.
While the network connectivity and the touch screen will be upgraded in the camera department will be a downgrade. The A72 motorway is equipped with a total of five cameras, a 16MP selfie camera on the front of a quad camera setup on the back is from a 48MP-main-8 MEGAPIXELS ultrawide, 2MP with macro mode, and a 2 MEGAPIXEL depth sensor of the units.
However, the A72 5G, on the other hand, has an 8-megapixel shooter on the front side to the back of the housing with the camera in the set-up is a combination of a 16MP primary and 8MP ultrawide and a 2 MEGAPIXEL depth of the modules.
In contrast to the A72, which comes with a 5000 mAh battery, and the A72 motorway 5G ships with a 4,040 mAh battery cell which is supplied with power via a USB-C port to a maximum of 18W. We believe that it would be better to pack a bigger battery, since it’s a smartphone that supports 5G networks, and features a 90Hz screen – both of which can be taxing on the battery.
Other highlights of the Oppo A72 5G, Android-10, on the basis of the ColorOS 7.2, Dirac 2.0 and audio enhancements, to the sides of the fingerprint reader, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
A72 5 G is available in three different colors, and comes in a single 8GB of RAM + 128GB of storage configuration, that is, it is priced at CNY1,899 ($270/€230). It’s been up for pre-orders in China through the company’s official web-site, with sales to begin on the 31st of July.
