Kanye West taps into his production bag of soulful samples in his newest track. On Sunday, the 13th of July, in the West celebrated what would have been his mother’s 71st birthday. Ye took to Twitter to reveal the track, which starts off with the mother, to quote KRS-One “sound of da Police.”
The Yeezy’s CEO, starts his verse, and after 90 seconds of the track. The song’s soulful production brings the nostalgia of a Kanye West fan.
“Mom, I need you to tuck me in, and I’ve made a couple of mistakes, and she rubbed it in,” Ye raps in the song.
Dr. Donda West and her son, who was to become the number one fan and biggest supporter. She has served as an associate professor and Chair of the Department of English and Speech at Chicago State University for a number of years before her untimely death.
Kim Kardashian-West posted a previous video of Kanye singing, the 2005 song “Hey Mama” by Donda West, in honor of her late mother-in-law.
