TEMPLETON The Templeton Community Services District, has announced that Thomas “Tom” Peterson, as its new Chief, effective Dec. 17. Chief Peterson is a 30-year veteran of the fire service and the former Templeton resident, 21 years of fire service experience as a volunteer with the Templeton Fire (1990-2011), which is currently serving as a Battalion Chief with the City of Atascadero.
He was the first full-time Fire Chief since 2012. His hiring was made possible by the voters approval of a parcel tax (Measure A), will be increased from $15 per month in 2019 to provide additional funding for the District’s Fire and Emergency services Department. Petersen was hired after an extensive statewide search.
Within minutes following an Interim Chief, Bill White, who has worked on a part-time basis, for the Quarter and for the past five years, with the retention of a full-time position with the Atascadero Fire department as a Battalion Chief.
Peterson is excited about the opportunity to serve in the role of the Chief in the Templeton Community.
