Dwight Arrington Myers better known as Heavy D would have been 53 years old today.
Heavy D & the Boyz were the first group signed to Uptown Records by the late president, Andre Harrell. Heavy D was the frontman, and Eddie F was his business partner in the group, a DJ, and a lot of the songs. In addition, the other two members, T-Roy and G-Wiz were the dancers. Their debut album, Live Great, which was released in 1987. If they were to achieve commercial success and acclaim, and T-Roy’s death. Heavy, kept the hits coming, and more importantly, he is the platform for the Uptown Records label.
Heavy D also performed on Janet Jackson’s hit single, “that’s Good,” and he appeared on Michael Jackson’s hit single “Jam” which makes him the only rapper to work with, both with the Jackson’s.
