Sheriff’s Office Releases Names of Deputies Involved in the Dog Shooting in Atascadero • Atascadero News


The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office released the names of two members who will be involved in an animal shooting in Atascadero on June 15.

Representatives of Marc Carreiro, Jacob, Henry, who reacted to what appeared to be a burglary in progress in the 7800 block of El Camino Real, when two dogs ran out of the business.

The deputy Carreiro afraid of the dog and was about to fall and discharge the weapon, striking one of the creatures.

The dog was transported to a local vet and, fortunately, his injury is not deemed to be life-threatening. Neither Deputy is on administrative leave.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. And it will be followed up by an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Unit. No further information is available at this time.

The owner of the dog, and Junior Gonzalez, a whole different story.

He said that the Deputies drew their guns on him as he was unloading supplies from his car at about 1 am on the 15th of June, in the parking lot of the new trend of the Workers, the company, which is owned by his parents.

He told me that his dog got out of the business, and were not to be aggressive, to walk in the direction of the chamber.
