The immensely popular duo, Siegfried and Roy, is not more than one-half of the team has passed away this evening. Roy Horn has died due to complications associated with the COVID-19 . His partner, Siegfried Fischbacher, made the news public. He had this to say in a statement.
“Today, the world lost one of the greats of magic, but I’ve lost my best friend. From the moment we met, I knew that Roy and I worked together, it would change the world. There couldn’t have been Him, without Roy, and no Roy without Him.”
“Roy was a fighter his entire life, including during the last days. I want to give you my sincere appreciation for the team of doctors, nurses, and staff at Mountain View Hospital [in Las Vegas] that worked out valiantly against this insidious virus is that, in the end, Roy’s life.”
Roy Horn, was 75 at the time of his death. Along with Him, and the popular entertainment forever changed the Las Vegas landscape. The duo is known for their impressive magic, illusions, and tiger-taming act. He was one of the original Tiger Kings, before there ever was one, Joe the Exotic.
The pair have been successful artists in Germany, which became world-famous for their outstanding performance. They would often perform at the casinos, and on cruise ships. In 1990, they opened their most extravagant show at The Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Things came to an end in 2003, when Horn was involved in an accident on the stage of one of the pairs of white Begal tiger named Mantecore.
In 2009, the pair reunited on stage for a final performance. They held a benefit for the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas. The sold-out performance, allegedly netted $14 million. By 2019, Siegfried and Roy, together, in a special 20/20 called Siegfried & Roy: the Magic. Just this month, they sent out a joint statement regarding the ongoing crisis in the world. Their joint statement read.
“Everyone in the United States of america, and all over the world are affected by this health crisis will continue to be in our prayers. We all know that the real magic is in each and every one of us in the caring, happy, loving, and thanking each other back and everyone is in good health, and good fortune. We can’t wait to see it possible for all of us to embrace each other and made it back home safely. Love to all, Siegfried & Roy.”
German filmmakers, Nico, Hofmann, and Bully Herbig, together with the duo for a Siegfried & Roy biopic. The plans for that have changed, and the film was shot in a multi-part docuseries, which is planned for a release in 2021.
Roy Horn, will be remembered at a private funeral. A Public memorial is being planned for the not too distant future, the world in which to live. With the news that Roy Horn’s death, it was announced for the first time on ABC News.
