In spite of the choose the NFL over MLB, and Patrick Mahomes have not lost interest in being involved in baseball. In the midst of an action-packed off-season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes speaking about his involvement in the Kansas City Royals his love for baseball.
“I love baseball,” Mahomes said, via ESPN’s Adam Teicher. “I grew up in the clubhouses. I love everything about it.
“If the Royal family were bought in the last year [John Sherman]I wanted to be a part of it. It took quite a bit of time. These things take time. So, it took almost a year to get the language right, and to do it at the right time, with everything that’s going on in the world. However, we were able to do it, and they were able to get me to join them and be a part of something that is going to be on the long-term.”
Following Kansas City’s Super Bowl win, the Chiefs inked Mahomes, a historic expansion in the amount of $503 million over a 10 year period. Then you have been outstanding in the off-season to continue, when he bought a stake in the Royals. As a result, he became the youngest owner in the sport’s history.
Of course, the gunslinging quarterback, grew up around baseball as a kid. His father, Patrick Mahomes, Sr., played in the MLB for 12 seasons. As a lover of football, the Chiefs signal-caller also played baseball, before you make a decision to put his dream of playing in the NFL, at Texas Tech.
