May 25th is an important date for the game Star Wars the devotees. This is the date on which With A New Sense Of Hope hit theaters back in 1977, it changed the game forever. It is also the same day is a Solo: A Star Wars Story, which opened in theaters in 2018. The Han Solo stand-alone film, it was not well received at first, mostly due to the fact that it came out less than six months from Rian Johnson’s highly controversial The Last Of The Jedi. However, times have changed, and just like last year, the one-year anniversary, the film has been trending on social media when fans beg for a sequel.
#MakeSolo2Happen has been trending on Twitter for the second year in a row. Solo the fans, some of which have not even seen the movie in the movie theater, are just waiting for Disney and Lucasfilm to follow-up with Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo. The reveal of Darth Maul at the end of the first part, just doesn’t sit right in the last year or two, and people will want to get some real closure, mixed in with more adventure.
Last year, director Ron Howard loved to hear about the positive energy surrounding the possibility of a Solo 2. The director was happy that a lot of people want more out of it, but didn’t really miss out on, and thanked the fans for their positive approach. If you see the movie in theaters, and it was being bombarded by trolls to hate on social media, which Howard is of the opinion that it is a part of the project, in the absence of the box office. Regardless, Twitter has been taken over by the Star Wars the fans are looking for, Lucasfilm, to a Solo follow-up, with a number to take to the streets with the hashtag on their vehicles.
Earlier this year, Solo co-writer Jonathan Kasdan revealed that the studio did not “pursue a Solo follow-up to this very moment.” Kasdan went on to say in a follow-up on the big screen, it would be “a hard sell.” This has led to speculation about a possible Disney+ series, and the official cast will return. Both Alden Ehrenreich and Emilia Clarke has signed on for multiple films, so it’s going to happen, as the studio will want to follow him. However, they would like to go back to a project that will not be a home run for them.
Solo 2 just not officially in the cards at the moment, but that will give Star Wars fans a period of time to mobilize. So far, the campaign is very much rooted in a positive approach, which is very rare for the fans of the franchise. If it was in a position to build on the momentum of the Dummy Image, and movement, there is a possibility that the sequel might be happening, or even possible, Disney+ range. Snyder is currently hard at work to bring to its original vision, in the form of more cash, Warner Bros., so it’s actually possible at the moment. You can also head over to Disney+ in order for you to see Solo as of July 10th of this year, but for now, take a look at some of the best tweets you have to ask for a follow-up section below.
