Facebook has just announced that it is acquiring the popular GIF-sharing platform Giphy. Reportedly, the deal will cost Facebook $400 million, and the plan is to promote the integration of the Giphy’s library into Instagram and other Facebook-owned service.
The inclusion of Giphy, who are used to sharing, but for creating and editing animated Gif’s, it is a long time ago, when Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram and all are working with the library. Facebook says that more than 50% of the Giphy traffic is coming from, the services provided by the company.
More specifically, this, Giphy, would be a part of the Instagram team, and to make it easier for users to share Gif’s, stories, and personal messages. And as for the Giphy, users, things will remain as they are for the time being. There would be no changes to be made to the platform itself.
